How Can You Help Us?
Main problem we have is lack of regular food donations. Regular donation of a specific food type or even part of the required amount would help us enormously.
Cost for daily food requirement is as follows:
Bead tea and breakfast: Rs. 5,500/=
Lunch (Rice and curry with meat or fish): Rs. 9,800/=
Dinner (Rice and curry with meat or fish): Rs. 9,800/=
Vegetarian meal for luch or dinner: Rs. 6,500/=
We lack a great deal despite our minimal needs. We would love to provide the children with a more nutritious diet which includes more meat, fish, vegetables and fruit, as well as occasional treats such as ice cream. On this front, we have already started growing our own vegetables but we have far from enough to feed the children.
Donors do not need to contribute full monthly or even daily requirements for a food type. We appreciate donations of any kind. If you would like to donate dry food rations, please call the office so that we can confirm the food type and quantity.
If you like to make a donation in cash—can be handed over at the head office at the orphanage. A receipt will be issued upon payment.
Alternatively, cash or cheques can be deposited at the Bank of Ceylon. Please give your details to the bank so that we can send you a receipt.

We also require one- off donations of 7 folding cots and 10 ceiling fans for the infants section.
Would You Like to Help in Other Ways?
Education
The children are educated up to O’ Level standard (local board) in Sinhala, Tamil, maths, English, Art, Music (Eastern and Western), Science, Health, Geography, Agriculture, Religion and Japanese. Half of the children continue to A Level studies. We are not able to educate them here due to lack of staff and facilities. The children are thus educated at a local private school for which we pay there fees and bus fare.
The children need guidance and career advice. Career advisors and any one who could find work experience for the children would be welcome.
Medical Help
We have an ayurvedic doctor who visits us every two weeks. How ever we need a regular medical doctor and a child psychologist. Some of these children have been through traumatic experiences and it would be highly beneficial for them to talk to some one.
Extra curricular Activities
We are trying to provide these children with the best possible start to their lives. This means helping them to develop their talents in area which are not easily detected. These include the fields of Arts, Music, dance, sports and Information technology. The children play volley ball and cricket. We would like the girls to play net ball but we lack the ball and nets. (Donations of sports equipments and musical instruments would be very much appreciated) we would be grateful for volunteers willing to teach any of these activities. (At any age group), even if it for short period of time.
Volunteers
We are understaffed, and due to lack of finances find it difficult to take on more staff. We receive, on average; about 20 volunteers a year from abroad for whom we provide foods and accommodation. They stay for a period ranging from two weeks to two months. We would love local volunteers to come forward so that the children can communicate more easily and build a stronger relationship. Therefore, if there are any volunteers (including from schools who would like their students to gain some work experience) please contact us.
Matrons
We are looking for matrons who will reside with us full time to act as guardians for the children. References are required.
Construction/Maintenance
If you are able to visit us, you will notice that the buildings and drainage are not in ideal condition. The small amount of money we receive from the government does not cover our costs. Therefore any help with materials (in particular paint, which is constantly needed) and labour would be great. In the future, we would love to construct another building for a science lab and another dormitory for the boys.
Security
We are in urgent need of two 24-hour security staff to keep a watch over the children. Ideally they would come from a known security company with references (for the safety of the children.
Fostering a Child
If you would like to foster a child, application forms can be obtained from the office.
Salaries
Total of staff salaries comes up to Rs. 230,000/= per month. This includes all the staff members at the ophanage, teachers and two head teachers who are working for the Indrasiri College. It is important that we keep these staff as they are very committed to the children.
Your donations will help us to pay salaries to the staff in monthly basis without any difficulty.
Treats
Childhood should be filled with fun and great memories, and we would like to give that to the kids. Day trips to such as Planetarium, Zoo or Cinema would be wonderful. But it costs too much for us to organize the tickets or transport.
Organizing fun days within the orphanage compound such as sport days, ice cream days( 5 gallons per meal), fun fairs (with bouncy castles, merry go round etc.) or any other ideas that the kids would enjoy over the weekend would be fantastic.
